7 Quick Takes – China Edition

Hi I am writing this from Hong Kong, one night’s sleep away from returning home.  I decided to put up a Quick Takes even though Jen is not.  I have been starved of blogging since arriving on mainland China where even wordpress is blocked by “the Great Firewall of China.”  It’s been horrible not to be able to keep up with others’ blogs. (Hi Kassie, Eli, Priest’s Wife, Jen A!)

Four months of telling God “No” to another adoption

Fourteen months of piles of paperwork and agonizing waiting

Paying out thousands of dollars to two governments, one adoption agency, and an airline

20 hours of traveling by economy

5 days of jetlag

Many, many tears of “what are we doing?!?”

One more orphan having a Mama and Baba forever and always who love him to the moon and back makes it all worth it.

Merry Christmas and May the New Year bring you blessings and great Joy!

About Kim

I am a Roman Catholic, widow, mother to four, passionate about my faith, adoption, and writing. When my husband first got sick, someone told me "you and your husband are writing a beautiful story for your family." Well, the story has dramatically changed and I'm just trying to figure out how to write this new story line. Join me along the way if you will.

I haven’t been dealing with the Great Firewall of China – but the backwoods of Texas with spotty internet access feels similar sometimes! CONGRATULATIONS! I am so blessed to have you guys in my life. Prayed for y’all daily, but especially during the Christmas Masses. SO HAPPY DUMPLING 4 IS HOME!

Congratulations! I came via Kassie’s blog because we adopted from China, too.

We had hoped to go again, but our wait the first time stretched into three years from paperwork login to gotcha day. I know you’re busy right now, but could you e-mail me? I would love to ask you some questions.
